If wide open space and a small town feel interest you then check out Celina. This community is halfway between Frisco and the Texas border populated by ranches and yet to be developed acreage. Preston, one of the major thoroughfares, runs through Celina which gives quick access to Prosper, Frisco and McKinney. What also makes this a favorite spot is the anticipation of the North Dallas Tollroad which, when extended, will reach Celina giving fast access directly to downtown Dallas.

The Celina High School football team is one of the most successful programs in Texas, with a UIL-record eight state titles and a 69-game winning streak. The Bobcats were the subject of the documentary The Power, Passion and Glory. Celina won state football championships in 1974 (co-championship with Big Sandy High School, one of the all-time dominant teams), 1995, 1998–2001, 2005, and 2007. The Celina High School baseball team has been successful as well, making the playoffs many times and winning the state championship in 2002. In 2010, Kenny Chesney wrote a song called “The Boys of Fall”. Part of the music video, having to do with high school football, shot scenes of Celina.
Dining and Shopping
Celina has a quaint downtown square with boutique shops, restaurants and a popular farmers market. This is the hub of activities in Celina with fun events like outdoor movie nights, a Cajun festival, and Splash & Blast in the summer. Every holiday has an event on the square like trick or treat, Christmas and an egg hunt. This is a popular spot for families and friends to meet and enjoy the Texas evenings.
Celina’s annual balloon fest is the smaller version to Plano’s and just as impressive. Whether you attend the launch in the early morning mist or the glow at night, it is a spectacular show of vivid colors. The festival is not just balloons but also live music acts and fireworks. There are around 100 food and service vendors for you to explore as you watch the balloons take flight.
Parks and Recreation
old Celina Park is the main attraction with world class baseball fields, multi-sport fields, a catch-release pond, pavilion and kids playground. Most adult and youth sport leagues play here. Just 1 block east of the downtown square is Founders park with tennis and basketball courts, a gazebo, horseshoe pit, picnic tables and a kids play area.
