Dining and Shopping
Allen offers over 200 restaurants and a variety of shopping venues including 2 master-planned shopping developments and an outlet center.
The Villages of Allen/Fairview and Watter’s Creek are both mixed-use developments with retail, restaurants and residential. The Villages are anchored by larger departments stores such as Macy’s, Dillards and JCPenny, while Watter’s Creek has both nationwide and local boutiques. Both offer many amenities for both residents and visitors including live music events, movies on the green and a big area favorite – a splash park that turns into a choreographed water show in the evenings. On the weekends this is a favorite spot for the younger kids to cool off while the family enjoys a meal at the adjacent restaurants’ patios. For the more active group there is a sand volleyball complex as well. For the cooler months there are fire pits, fireplaces, a large size chess board and often live music to keep both residents and visitors entertained. Of course, Santa and his reindeer make an appearance along with carriage rides and beautifully lit trees to enjoy in the evenings.
Parks and Recreation
Living here, you enjoy nearly 800 acres of developed parkland, roughly 50 miles of hiking and nature trails, and five recreation facilities. There are 2 golf courses and one of only a dozen wakeboard parks in the U.S. and one of the largest extreme skate parks in Texas as well as Celebration Park, one of the biggest handicap-accessible playgrounds and spray grounds in the nation.
The Allen Event Center is an entertainment destination. Live music concerts from country to rock as well as events such as Disney on Ice are booked throughout the year. If spectator sports are more your speed, the Allen American hockey team, the Dallas Sidekicks soccer team and the Texas Revolution indoor football team all call the event center home. More interested in playing than watching? Top Golf, a point-scoring golf venue with live music and a restaurant has one of their locations in Allen as well.
